Zaza has scored only once in 14 caps for Italy
Not a stat you would expect to see from a prolific goalscorer is it?

Dick head.

Try watching them, he isn't played as an out and out striker for them and most were probably as a sub.

Could just give the bloke a chance?

So he scored more goals for Italy senior team than Di Canio did?

Re: Zaza has scored only once in 14 caps for Italy
In 6 of those games he played 30 mins or less, and he only played the full 90 in two of them.

You can compare this to the stats of a renowned prolific goal scorer like Alan Shearer at the same age, who took 23 games to reach 5 goals for England (most of them playing 90 mins).

Personally I don't think Zaza will score a huge amount of goals. Doesn't mean he can't be a good player for us.

Di Canio didn´t play for them

Grumpster 11:43 Thu Sep 1

What ? He isn´t played as an striker for them ? Why not ? And what position does he play then, please inform me. This doesn´t make any sense

Re: Zaza has scored only once in 14 caps for Italy
They always play pelle up top and then the usual thing that annoys us all of sticking a striker out of position wide.

Italy aren't blessed with wingers so eder is always played wide, even though he's much better up top.

Still, worked for them at the Euro's, as a zaza/eder wide is better than a milner!!

After the friendly match played in Bari against Italy, Dimitri Payet spoke to our correspondent, Federico Zanon: " Zaza is a great striker , I saw what he did to Juventus. It 'a modern striker who makes goals in all ways and can help us achieve our goals at West Ham . "

If Payet is down with Zaza, who are we to argue?

His stats are well known and that's why it is no secret to anyone that he wasn't our first choice, but he will get decent service from our attacking wingers and creative midfielders which are better than most clubs providing him with plenty of chances.

He looks like he is capable of putting a fair few of the chances away and I would be expecting him to convert 15 approx this season. If he doesn't make it into double figures then I think he will probably not be very good, injuries withstanding.

I think it only fair and sensible as he is West Ham to give the bloke our backing until he settles into his new team and surroundings. Already scored on his London Stadium debut, let's hope it's a good omen.

I see, let´s hope that is the reason then..

I read somewhere that his stats are better for Juve, 1 in every 180 minute or something like that. But I also read a scouting report from 2 years ago about him which said he is not good at heading, hopefully he has improved on that front since.

How we will do this season will largely depend on how Zaza does

Re: Zaza has scored only once in 14 caps for Italy
Fingers crossed playmaker son.

Shearer started his career slowly and then exploded, so hopefully the English game and our midfielders will suit him down to the ground, as would be lovely to have a striker scoring consistently.

.44 goals per 95mins in Serie a or 1 goal every 2.2 full games

Maybe an extended run in a good team will see him flourish, hopefully, those numbers need improving if we are to be fed this prolific line
